Jason Gu, owner of Baike Hotel, is an experienced cycling guide who has been working for Bike China Adventures for more than 8 years. On his 5th bike trip to Ping’an, he met his lovely wife Liao Yebang. After a year, they decided to get married and build their own house.
Jason was born in Jilin Province far in the Northeast part of China(near North Korea) and spent 5 years in Chengdu, Sichuan, attending and graduating from Chengdu Sports University with a Bachelor of English Language. Jason worked as a bicycle tour guide for Bike China Adventures, leading numerous bicycling tours, mostly domestically in China.
The longest being the “Grand China Tour” which spanned 53 days, 4,100km from Kashgar, Xinjiang Provice(Pakistan border) all the way to Beijing, crossing the entire country from west to east. After many years of bike guide work, Jason decided to settle down in Longji Rice Terraces, Guilin. There he lives a life centered around his favorite people and things: his family, China, meeting new people from around the world and ensuring they have a wonderful and memorable stay in his family hotel!
Perfect hotel in rice terraces!
Our family stayed 1 night at Baike Hotel in Ping’An (Longsheng). This is a newly built hotel with spacious and very clean guests rooms, with beautiful view on rice terraces. Hotel owners and staff speak very good English. The location is perfect for nice walks to rice terraces. We really enjoyed our stay!
The place to stay in Longsheng
This was one of the stand-outs from our trip to China – clean, conveniently located and so well-equipped. And the views! Relaxing with a drink on our balcony, watching the mists roll in across the rice terraces is something I’ll always remember.
Situated on a hillside overlooking the rice paddies, this is a wonderful hotel. Extremely tough locals carry your suitcases in baskets on their backs up a winding path past little shops with brightly decorated bags, cushion covers made by the local minorities. Our room was an aesthetic delight. Jason, owner and operator speaks perfect English and is always willing to help. Take a trip to a nearby village where you can go via telecabin to a high plateau with wonderful views over acres of terraced rice fields .
Amazing hotel in great location, fantastic views
Fantastic location, only a short walk from Ping’an main car park (where all cars stop, so there is a walk to every hotel here. This is the first hotel you come too…much easier to get to than the others). Jason was quick to contact me after booking to explain how to get to the hotel and answer any questions I had. He was a fantastic host and incredibly helpful both before and during our stay. The views from the restaurant and room balconies are breathtaking. It is so peaceful and relaxing. The room was a great size and very clean, a very comfortable bed. Food was good, a great selection of Chinese food. The hotel is a great base for walking – we walked to the two main viewpoints of this village and also to the next village across, which is a beautiful walk along the contours of the terraces.
Good location! Very near to the parking lot. Love the view from the hotel, especially we can both enjoy the view and have delicious local food. Good service, the owner can speak english and can give travel suggestions. Good living condition good shower, fresh air. Will definitely come back.
